Thelmo Vargas-Madrigal

Thelmo Vargas-Madrigal is a neoliberal Costa Rican economist and politician who currently serves as a Researcher at Academia de Centroamerica. Vargas-Madrigal is also a professor at the University of Costa Rica, a columnist for the newspaper La Nación, where he writes on public policy and economics. Vargas earned a Bachelor's Degree Suma cum Lauda from the University of Costa Rica, and a postgraduate MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Geneva. Vargas has additionally participated in programs at Harvard University's JFK School of Gvt and is a graduate in Insurance from The College of Insurance in Surbiton, Surrey. Vargas previously served as Minister of Finance in the administration of Rafael Ángel Calderón Fournier of the Christian Social Unity Party, member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank, and CEO of Banco Internacional de Costa Rica. Vargas previously taught at the Central American Institute of Business Administration (INCAE).
